FAQ’s

How Do I sign up for classes?
Although we allow reservations by phone or email, we prefer students register for class by using our online scheduling system. Click here to reserve your spot in class.

How do I pay for classes?
You can prepay online for all classes and lessons with a credit card. Or, you may pay in person with a credit card or cash.

Do I have to be in great shape before starting Aerial Arts class?
No. We start off with the basics and modify the moves according to the fitness level of each student. Even if you aren’t able to get your feet off the ground, there are moves we can teach you to get you started. If you already have great upper body strength - the easier it will be for you to progress quickly. As each week passes you will get stronger and stronger and will be able to perform moves you never thought possible!

What are the age ranges and is it open to both men and women?
Our kids class is ages 8 - 14 years and our adults class is age 14 and up. Our Aerial classes are open to both males and females.

What should I bring to class?
You can bring a mat or towel if you like for the short warm up portion of class. (Kids do not need a mat for their class). You will want to bring bottled water and/or use the water fountain.

What should I wear to class?
Long stretch pants or footless tights and a shirt that will cover your midriff without riding up (or that you can tuck in). You can also wear layers and remove or add as needed. Please remove all jewelry that could possibly catch on or tear the fabric as well as clothing with rhinestones, studs, spikes or other embellishments. Please refrain from wearing lotions and body oils as these can make you slip on the equipment. Please also remove shoes and socks.

Which aerial apparatuses do you teach at To The Pointe?
We teach Tissu/Silks, Trapeze, Hammock, Hoop/Lyra. As the months progress, we switch out equipment. This allows you to learn new skills on a variety of equipment and gain more confidence in your aerial abilities.

What is a typical class like?
Classes start off with a 5 -10 minute warm up, then the teacher will demonstrate a variety of moves, then the students will take turns on the different apparatuses.  Both kids and adult classes end with a short, cool down stretch.

Are there conditioning drills I can do before or between my aerial classes to help me get stronger?
Yes, you can do push ups, pull ups, crunches, leg lifts, jumping rope and running to help improve your strength and endurance. You may also want to take Pilates classes at To The Pointe. Pilates will help strengthen your core, improve your posture, increase your flexibility and so much more! You can also practice the stretches you’ve learned in class or take a yoga class to help improve your flexibility and prevent future injuries.

Do you offer Private Aerial Lessons?
Yes, we do! If you’ve been wanting to clean up a particular aerial sequence, drop or wrap, or need a good foundation before you start group aerial classes- privates are a good start. Focused solely on the clients individual needs, a private lesson is a great way to meet your personal goals. All fitness levels welcome. Your instructor will discuss your specific goals and plan your private lesson(s) accordingly.  By Appointment only. Please call to schedule.

I just attended my first class and now I am sore all over - is that normal?
Yes, it is normal to feel muscles aching that you didn’t even know you had! You can remedy this by drinking plenty of water to flush out the toxins, or taking a hot bath with epsom salts, or getting a massage, or putting on Arnica creme or taking Arnica or other natural anti-inflammatory supplements. You can get these at Earth Wise Nutrition Centers at Granary Square - just mention you are a TTP member and you’ll get 20% off. The good news is - as each week passes you will get stronger and the moves that used to make you sore will no longer effect you.

Safety Rules

Our number one priority is to provide our students with a safe and productive class atmosphere. We ask that all students read and adhere to the following rules:

  • Absolutely no teaching in the studio is allowed, except by To The Pointe Instructors.
  • The warm up prior to every class is crucial to safety and beneficial for your training. If you arrive late, your instructor may ask you to warm up for 5 to 10 minutes before allowing you to climb.
  • To The Pointe Aerial equipment is available only for Aerial students during class time. If you want to practice on the aerial equipment during non class hours - it must be with an aerial teacher (which is considered a private lesson).
  • The changing out or swapping of equipment is to be executed only by To The Pointe aerial instructors who have had rigging training.
  • You may not use your own equipment in the aerial studio unless it is during a private lesson and has been properly hung by an instructor with rigging experience.
  • Skills are taught in levels appropriate to the student’s ability with an emphasis on conditioning. If a staff member at any time has concerns about your ability to complete a trick or move safely, they are within their rights to ask you to cease attempting the trick(s).
  • Crash mats must be used at all times under all aerial apparatuses.
